Climate Interfaith enters youth Action Challenge 6 (YAC6) under the theme "Society for Everyone - Strengthening Multiculturalism"!
YAC session 1 on 5 October 2024
Youth Action Challenge (YAC) is a structured six-month programme that gives youths the opportunity to act on their passions and co-create an inclusive, sustainable and progressive Singapore. The programme is organised by National Youth Council (NYC) and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) in partnership with Youth Co:Lab, which is co-led by UNDP and Citi Foundation!
YAC6 had design thinking workshops, prototyping workshops, logic model workshops, story-telling and pitching workshops! Most importantly, the programme provided opportunities for Climate Interfaith to consult the agencies on their problem statements and brilliant mentors to guide us!
Through consultation with MCCY, we delved deeper into their challenges. A key challenge that we explored was that social cohesion events in Singapore are limited in outreach and impact due to public apathy and inhibitions to act due to cultural sensitivities!
YAC session 2 on 19 October 2024
YAC session 3 on 26 October 2024
This is where Climate Interfaith can play a role in overcoming public apathy and inhibition to act due to cultural sensitivities. Climate action can be the means for diverse communities to strengthen social cohesion as it remains as one of the top concerns and interests for youths to take action on!
Through consultations with our mentor Jaspreet Singh, we came up with 3 themes that were accessible and trendy to general public where sustainability intertwined with interfaith education:
Where the end objective is to have a deeper understanding of diverse faith communities whether it be how each faith views environmental conservationism, significance of religious diet/specific foods and their places of worships.
Storypitching workshop on 7 December 2024
By providing a platform for faith communities to take collective climate action, Climate Interfaith leverages both climate and faith networks to empower faith communities be more sustainable and cohesive in Singapore, towards a world where people and planet thrive in peace!
