Given the escalating climate crisis and social polarization, Climate Interfaith co-organised a session on "Empowering Faith Communities for Collective Climate Action" with the Commonwealth Pavilion at COP29 Baku, Azerbaijan. The session sought to mobilize faith communities to take collective action towards achieving net-zero and amplifying a moral and ethical call for climate action, moving beyond political and economic motivations.
Ismail Weiliang from Climate Interfaith gave a keynote speech at the Commonwealth pavilion and shared Climate Interfaith 's mission of empowering faith communities for collective climate action.
Participants at the session were from various countries: UK, USA , Brazil, New Zealand, Italy, Bangladesh, Namibia South Africa.
Quoting Dr Iyad al-Maghouli's speech at the International Conference on Cohesive Societies (ICCS) held in Singapore, a global interfaith conference 2 years ago "All religions agree on a human, spiritual and moral responsibility towards the earth."
This is where the Climate Interfaith Youth Network comes in. Climate Interfaith empowers faith communities for collective climate action. Bringing all diverse faith communities together, celebrating our differences and working towards the same goal - Climate action for a future where planet and people thrive in peace.
